Open Door Adoption Agency ruined our family. Mr. Gilbert is a fraud and Mrs. Gilbert took a white-out pen and marked out information on my sister's medical information. Mrs. Gilbert admitted that she whited-out the information and lied to us. She has been in and out of rehabs and psychiatric units for 11 years. My parents adopted her from St. Petersburg, Russia when she was 11, and she is now 24 years old. The agency told us to have an exorcism or "rebirthing" done on her...then they informed us to beat her with a belt, which we could never do. The agency admitted their fault to us and asked if we wished to send her back to Russia on their expense. We declined and the years have been nothing but chaos for us. This adopted has torn our family apart. When my parents began to adoption process, Open Door was informed that the child that was to be adopted had to be able to get along with other children because of me. The whited-out information included that my sister (adopted) could NEVER be in a home with other children and that she had SEVERE psychiatric illnesses, enough to be sedated and hospitalized in Russia for several years. After the first week that we got home, my sister attempted to stab my mother with a butcher's knife and the agency told us it was a "language barrier". Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert made $1.2 in the budget and their "CEO's" (a husband and wife who helped us) $200,000. They claimed that it was out of the "goodness of their heart" according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution http://www.ajc.com/news/nonprofit-adoption-agencies-often-493623.html This agency is a scam and they work with the Russia Mafia while in the country. BEWARE OF OPEN DOOR AGENCY!!
