| Agency Description | The Catholic Charities Adoption Services is a non-profit adoption agency that serves the Diocese of Harrisburg, which includes 15 counties in Central Pennsylvania. Since 1938, it has assisted birthparents, adoptive families, and children by facilitating adoptions that meet the needs of all three members of the adoption triad. It believes in the innate dignity and value of every human life and that every child is entitled to an environment in which he or she is loved and accepted unconditionally. We are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children. The Catholic Charities Specialized Foster Care is a private foster family care provider for abused, neglected, or troubled children who are in the custody of County Children and Youth agencies. We provide a temporary, safe, nurturing home for children who have been separated from their families by the court. We develop a plan for an alternative permanent placement if a child cannot be returned home. We believe that adoption is often an appropriate plan for children who cannot be returned home or placed with relatives. |
