| Agency Description | The Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Winona is a non-profit corporation of the State of Minnesota. Incorporated in 1947, it enjoys a tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code. It is the social service arm of the Diocese of Winona, which comprises the 20 southernmost counties of Minnesota. The Catholic Charities helps children, families in crisis, vulnerable adults and seniors, immigrants, refugees, the poor, and the unborn - regardless of race, age, gender, or faith tradition, based on its programs that provide help and create hope for thousands of people throughout the diocese. These programs include Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling; Pregnancy, Parenting and Adoption; Court Appointed Services; Adopted Adult and Birthparent Searches; Senior Services; Marriage Preparation; Parish and Community Social Action; Immigration Legal Services and Refugee Resettlement. It conducts its programs in accordance with the principles of Catholic Social Teachings, which affirm the sanctity of human life and the dignity of each individual person as a child of God. |
