| Agency Description | The Catholic Family Services was established in Birmingham in 1928 at the direction of Archbishop Toolin of the Mobile Archdiocese to provide the highest quality counseling and child welfare services and other related services to people of all faiths in the North Central Alabama area. After becoming a member of the United Way of Central Alabama in 1939, it expanded its services to include child welfare services, services to women in crisis pregnancies, adoption services and infant foster care. The increasing demand for services since 1960 has given the agency with no option but to open other offices and add counseling and family services, such as the Huntsville office in 1960, the Tuscaloosa office in 1989, the Florence office in 1998, and the Gadsden office in 2001. Today, the agency offiers services for crisis pregnancies, infant care homes, adoption, marriage family and individual counseling, and post-abortion counseling. |
