The experiences my husband and I have with Deaconess Pregnancy and Adoption Services are wonderful. When most adoptive 'moms to be' are hurting and grieving the lost opportunity to birth a child, I never had that thought cross my mind. We were so excited to begin the process and absolutely ecstatic when we were told a birth mother wanted to meet us. As a child of a closed adoption, I had thought my family would explore the same. Wow, was I wrong about that! Today, I am so proud to say that I have a special relationship with my children's birth mothers. They are able to see and hear about how the child they placed with us has grown and progressed. Our children also hold a sweet place in their hearts for these women. We hope these visits provide reinforcing confidence that they truly made the right decision in choosing adoption over other options available to them in a time of crisis. An additional benefit that DPAS provides is support to these wonderful women who have so selflessly placed a child into a home they didn't know before. My family is so grateful for the beautiful spirited family that makes up Deaconess Pregnancy and Adoption Services and thankful for the opportunities to continue fellowship with them.
