New York Council on Adoptable Children

Agency New York Council on Adoptable Children
Agency Description Established in 1970, the New York Council on Adoptable Children (COAC) is an adoption service agency whose mission is to insure that as many children as possible are placed, as expeditiously as possible, with families that will love and care for them. With this mission, it is actively seeking prospective adoptive parents to adopt children with special needs [largely African American and Hispanic, older children and youth – ages 8 to 17, many with developmental disabilities or physical handicaps, and/or in sibling groups] who wait in the New York City foster care system. COAC is also devoted to recruiting parents for these waiting children, and helping shorten the length of time they wait for a permanent home and family.
