Pact, An Adoption Alliance

Agency Pact, An Adoption Alliance
Agency Description Pact helps find permanent loving families for infants of color in need of adoption. Birth parents of African American, Latino, Asian, Native American and multiracial children born in the U.S. deserve access to families yearning to adopt. Pact crosses geographic and institutional barriers, connecting children and parents whom, without Pact, might not be united as family. At least 95% of the children Pact helps to place are healthy newborns - 73% are African American - 40% of the African American children are multiracial - 22% are Latino - and 5% are other ethnicities. Pact believes that birth parents have the right to choose the family who will adopt their baby. Pact provides them with an opportunity to consider a range of pre-adoptive families, for both same-race and transracial placements. Women of color deserve the same choices, control and respect as any others who choose adoption for their child. Your dream of becoming a Mom or Dad may exactly reflect a birth parent’s wishes and a child’s need. Our primary client is the child. In order to serve the child, we address the needs of the child’s parents, by offering lifelong education to adoptive families and birth families on matters of race and adoption. Our goal is for every child to feel wanted, honored and loved, a cherished member of a strong family with proud connections to the rich cultural heritage that is his or her birthright. We particularly invite individuals and couples of color to experience the joys of adoption. For others who wish to consider parenting a child with a racial background different from your own, opportunities are greater than you may have imagined. Adoptive parents may be single, married or divorced. They may have other children, may be a working mom or dad, don’t need to own thier own home, may have a modest income, may be over 40 and may be gay or lesbian. Most essential are the desire to become a parent, a commitment to family unity, and a real interest in examining and managing life’s complexities. Your job will be to discover and understand your child’s specific needs and challenges. If you recognize children to be unique individuals, have a sense of humor and enjoy complexity, then adoption may be right for you.

Pact is NOT a licensed adoption agency. It is an adoption facilitation service.
